Any thoughts?

re: DWDM Market to Triple Tough to tell, frankly.

I've been trying to follow up on the story I did on RHK's statistics - see http://www.lightreading.com/do...

Basically, market researchers are still busy collecting detailed info for the year 2000 and in the mean time, it's impossible to separate key portions of the DWDM market - notably distinguishing between high channel count open platforms and low channel count proprietary platforms, ones that are typically integrated with Sonet/SDH gear.

re: DWDM Market to Triple Stupid question, but what is FWDM?

Recognizing it is largely aimed at a different market segment any idea as to how hot the current CWDM market is and how large it may grow to be in the future?

re: DWDM Market to Triple Any idea as to how hot is FWDM as compared to DWDM? Right now there are only two companies out there with FWDM. Will it be more popular than DWDM? Any info. about Kestrel Solutions?

re: DWDM Market to Triple FWDM -- Frequency wave division multiplexing
DWDM -- Dense wave division multiplexing

I have not heard CWDM. No question is stupid. If you do not know the answer then just shut up.

re: DWDM Market to Triple CWDM + Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing. no expert, but believe differs from DWDM by covering fewer frequencies with wider spacing which equates to cheaper alternative if/when it is sufficient to do the job. Probably not a long haul technology, but meant more for metro and edge of system.
