re: Cisco Ships OC192 The 15327 is a downscaling of the 454, nothing in common with the 303 which is probably a dead product

re: Cisco Ships OC192 This product is most definetly form the 454 side. The masnagement platform is the same. It can be provisioned and managed on a 15454 netork with point and click A-Z provisioning end to end.

re: Cisco Ships OC192 the question was asked, who will buy a product whic does not offer protection for sonet tributary speeds of DS1 and DS3.

The days of requiring BLSR or UPSR on circuits is over. WCOM / MFS rarely provided proper 1:1 APS even though their contracts required it.

Service Providers today are selling circuits publicly at a discount so as to not provide APS.

Service providers that are selling data (and not circuits) provide their protection at Layer 2 or Layer 3.

The days of bellcoresque protection are numbered.

re: Cisco Ships OC192 probably #4 product in his category. My personal ranking is #1 JNPR, #2 AVCI and ALA, #4 CSCO but with CSCO's beautiful marketing machine, they will soon look like #1

your OPINION coming from experience with all of these vendor's equipment and a scientific approach to evaluating in a bake-off environment no doubt

Yes... be on the lookout for that core router from ALA, brought to you by engineers that can't get jobs anywhere else. Who's #5, Nexabit!!? Bwahahahaha!

Perhaps you are just confused here, this isn't the coffee machine story...

re: Cisco Ships OC192 The new cisco hardware is outstanding. I know one of the ASIC designers over there. They are going to be far ahead of Juniper in a very short period on hardware and twice the performance of the M160 (Juniper's hardware isn't really that impressive - the ASICs are good but the design has weaknesses). The real question is "can cisco stabilize IOS for this". They have had some serious code issues in recent years. Lots of bugs and memory leaks. Juniper code is pretty solid and that is what people like. If cisco can produce some really outstanding code to go with that hardware they will start bloodying Juniper a little.

Froggy, stop taking those drugs. Alcatel??? Avici??? you must be kidding. Those guys cannot even take 1% of the market from cisco. You are a funny guy.

re: Cisco Ships OC192 JNPR has huge technology lead. They will be 1st with next product cycle. CSCO is just too big and has to fight on so many product cycles.

AVCI: if its product was so good, wouldn't ALA/NT/LU/etc. just buy them and start selling their product.

NT is reselling JNPR. NT is selling their stake in AVCI.

Analyst from BREAN MURRAY intimating that CSCO's product is just vaporware. awaiting lightreading's investigation
