re: Cisco 5, Light Reading 4I'm just callin' em as I see em Scotty. Still luv you guys, pom poms and all.
It seems to me that LR spends a lot of energy gleefully pointing out the woes of startups while printing all of Cisco's most meaningless propaganda any time it comes over the wire. So the market sees two things: startup=doom and Cisco=wow, those guys build cool stuff! Neither of these are truths. But then again, Fox ain't fair and balanced either.
re: Cisco 5, Light Reading 4"The Cosmos' crack management team was not to be fooled..."
Ah HA! Somehow, I knew crack was involved in this event. If you're going to take on vendors in sport, at least make it something that could lead to a career-ending injury. Rugby, full-contact backgammon, extreme cricket. We. Want. Blood.
re: Cisco 5, Light Reading 4Cisco took three of the eight photos we used.
The big issue was that a consumer grade camera, even a really good one (we have an Olympus C-700, 10x Zoom, 2.1 megapixel), couldn't catch the action in the low light setting without blurring everything.
BTW -- Being a reporter and a photographer are two different things entirely. I'm a lousy photographer, so I'll use whatever photo looks best for the story.
re: Cisco 5, Light Reading 4wilecoyote: Hmmm. It's funny how a different perspective can, well, change your perspective. When I worked at Cisco, the marketing folks (at least some of the martketing folks I knew) lived in dread of LightReading reviewing one of our products. The perception in some quarters -- and I won't claim it was all of Cisco -- was the LR had an ax to grind against Cisco. In fact, I'm surprised LR was able to get Cisco to play soccer with 'em. Well, Volpi is a good politician ;-).
"Fox News....Fair and balanced."
That's all we're asking, LR.
PS Cisco still sucks, soccor victory or no.
I'll probably get deleted from the Boards now.
