The Level 3 contract that Infinera won was a direct signal to Ciena that the DWDM space for them is history. All of Ciena's old transport gear was tossed when Level 3 brought up the Infinera DTN.
Funny how the Core Director which accounts for 23% of Ciena's rev was created by the guys that started Infinera. Ciena would have been dead if not for Core Director a few years ago when Ciena was turning over just $73M a quarter.
The guys at Ciena missed the top line just on account of loosing Level 3. Gary Smith knows it. Gary and Co. have lived off of Jagdeep's and Drew's Vision long enough. Now they are going to be his worst nightmare.
