Btw, how about Alcatel SR series? They seem to be winning a lot of business - is it all just edge business or are they selling their high-end platforms? The data sheets claim that the SR-12 can support 20 OC-192s.. and you can fit three of them in a rack. Is this true or just slideware?

is the SR-12 the pig(timetra) Basil sold to the frogs ?
That could'nt even do 1 OC-192 without rolling over.
But to be fair that was a year or two ago.

The SR12 is the timetra box and it has been winning quite a few deals recently if you believe the press releases from Alcatel. From what I've heard it does support 20 x OC192 or 10GE in its current shipping config.

Considering the PE feature set, performance and Alcatel backing I think this platform should be a much bigger concern for Cisco/JNPR than any of the startups...
