re: Calix IPO Talk Resurfaces Any comments out there on one versus the other, technologically speaking?

re: Calix IPO Talk Resurfaces I think it is naive to think that Russo is averse to going public and therefore it won't go.

While I don't know the details, I suspect
Calix was financed by venture capitalists. Ultimately, they need a way to liquefy their investment. The only reason for not going public now is because the numbers aren't good enough to support the valuation they want and they think they can do better. If the numbers were good enough, I am sure they would be going public.

re: Calix IPO Talk Resurfaces They are and have been a niche play for several years. Carriers have been fitting their pizza box DSL box into other vendors cabinets as a way to provide CHEAP DSL for years. I would not look at them as a platform for anything other then cheap DSL. Especially since they have been on life support bringing in anywhere from a few million to several million dollars a year in revenue. I think there best year was last year at $20 mill although I could be wrong.

re: Calix IPO Talk Resurfaces They have both! Don't forget the 50+ customers they acquired with OSI's FTTx solution.

re: Calix IPO Talk Resurfaces You are wrong. In the last quarter alone, they did $20.1mm and generated an operating profit.

re: Calix IPO Talk Resurfaces I"m not replying on their web site...more like reading the C7 relase notes. Voice is TR08 backhauled to the host terminal converted to Packet. It's TDM voice to an IP voice gateway. NOT a real BLC. It's not packet at the port. There are NO DSP's at the port level. Reality. And no one has re-invented the backplane to ethernet...it's SONET...in fact they make a big deal about re-using existing SONET networks rather than moving to packet.

Your comments look like mantra from their web site. More Koolaid?

And Sprint and Alltel bought C7 as a TDM platform for TDM 303 voice and DSL...now they are living with it's limitations. It's been no love in.
