While unpopular I would like to point out that higher broadband revenue as a result of both higher penetration and prices is GOOD for this industry. We haven't caught many breaks in the past 8 years so I'll take this one.
Higher prices aren't necessarily good for the industry. (I think of it like sayng inflation is good for the economy.) The goal is productivity/standard of living increases/improvements. If the increases in revenue are merely going into the pockets of oligarchs who in turn pay graft to politicians who in turn sell a bill of goods to the public/citizens, this probably will have a negative net return per standard of living improvements. It's pretty obvious that the local loop providers are pretty much strangling innovations/improvements and trying to protect their legacy businesses instead of investing into infrastructures that would serve current and future generations. It's as bad as handing over all of the higher education systems to a bunch of southern baptists evangelicals.
