re: Bluetooth Stateside?> Some Bluetooth notes and/or facts.....
Great article! Are you aware of any BT-enabled phones that can be used on the CDMA/1xRTT Verizon Wireless network, or any coming soon? Thanks! My Palm Tungsten|T wants a friend to talk to ...
re: Bluetooth Stateside?"The concept of switching service providers to get a bluetooth phone strikes me as somewhat warped."
To switch based on a Bluetooth phone only wouldn't be my choice either. But if the service isn't great ditto i would. I was more or less refering to people who are caught with an operator who don't offer Bluetooth service and who have bought Bluetooth products which they can't use. I think it's very ought that there are operators who don't offer these services these days. HELLOOOOO, it's 2002 guys. It has a lot to do with where you live i guess sad enough. More patience we must have.

"All should be offered by operators"
GSM/GPRS in the US does not provide a user with the same data rates as 1XRTT from verizon or sprint. It never will, though edge might.
If EDGE does a better job than 1XRTT (assuming 1XEV-DO is not available) then i'll consider switching. Until then i'll live without bluetooth. Its a nice accessory and one which i'd like but its still an accessory to me.
re: Bluetooth Stateside?Agree with Castro on this thread.
I've used Verizon 1X data service with a PCMCIA card, and I've used an Ericsson Bluetooth headset.
The 1X service rapidly becomes "can't live without." The Bluetooth headset becomes just another charger to haul around, a dubious tradeoff to avoid a headset wire.

That was the point of my earlier post - I want to keep my Verizon service, but just be able to use a Bluetooth phone with it!

Next question is are they avaliable and where. Maybe Qualcomm can answer these questions. The lack of CDMA phones with Bluetooth are obvious.

Two cents from one gadget head.
