re: Backhaul Clouds Metro Femto VisionBackhaul Clouds Metro Femto Vision - WiFi Mesh in the Munis tried it an failed miserably, probably because of no big supporters. The market was clouded with startups. With Verizon and other biggies coming in favour of LTE Metro Mesh, using In-band backhaul; there could be significant traction - mobile used to be, and continues to be, the single biggest pain point for operators in terms of Capex (Apart from their Power bills, of course) - a fully self sufficient site or shelter or node would include (1) a herit sealed, fully rugged base station hoisted to a pole or tower or mast or wall (2) powered organically (in self) either through a Solar Panel or through a Fuel Cell (3) Use the same BOX for backhaul and use other BOXes or even User End Devices to reach to the shore (thats the wireline point of backhaul) - Not necessarily in Metros to supplement Macro coverages, these solutions in a Macro form could be employed in the unserved areas as well.
re: Backhaul Clouds Metro Femto Visionverizon is just talking about Metro Zone where they take the home picocells to the streets. The biggest challenge there is the backhaul. Though Verizon has not been so vocal about the in-band backhaul, it looks like that is the way to go atleast for Metro Zone. Much like the WiFi Muni Mesh...
Do you have Verizon contact that is considering metro zone? Do you have more evidence? Thank you!
