re: Avici Swings & Misses in Q3You need to string a bunch of singles in a row to generate runs, and a bunch of accounts to drive up revenues expecially when they are small. One hit an inning (or per quarter) won't win ballgames. Or build a business model that makes money. Batter up.
re: Avici Swings & Misses in Q3Amusing to see Avici talk about its "singles" (vs. Home Runs) strategy as we head toward the baseball World Series here in the U.S.
Yes, the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros can club home runs -- that's largely how Houston got through the playoffs (especially with that obscenely short left field) .... but they're both big fans of "small ball:" Hitting the single, sacrificing the runner over, scoring on another single.
So, Avici can take heart -- the approach can lead to big success even in a steroid-laden environment.
To add a serious point -- the singles approach must be disappointing for Avici but it's the only way to go at this point, yes? They can't just sit around waiting for another AT&T-sized score.
re: Avici Swings & Misses in Q3This looks more like a poorly executed suicide squeeze to me. If the batter doesn't make contact, it's one of the ugliest plays in baseball.
re: Avici Swings & Misses in Q3Avici should transition to a football strategy. At least that sport has a clock that eventually runs out, mercifully allowing the losers to go home.

But is it going to work?
Doc
It is all over for these guys at this point.
