Actually, that was an OEM deal, not an outright purchase, so your memory is correct.  Tazz was down to just a few staffers by the fall of 2007. It's been fixed to reflect that. JB

Well, Starent's certainly appears to be out of the running for any pot-sweeteners regarding Camiant now that Cisco's offered a cool $2.9B to buy  Starent.  Perhaps we'll see Cisco make a play for Camiant later...it's already a partner. JB

The chatter after the Cisco-Starent announcement was interesting. It seems Juniper is again being characterized as *needing* to acquire something, just as it was when people thought it needed Ethernet switching.  In this case it's wireless and optical.

Juniper turned out to have been developing its own Ethernet switching all along.  Should we expect the same for wireless and/or optical?

I think you should expect something developed internally. A career search at juniper.net reveals that they are looking for 5 control plane engineers with gtp/mobile IP  experience.

Of course remains to be seen how quickly they can get something to market and how relevant it will be...
