It's not really about who won. Multiple vendors could win, because there are different components or just because the provider wants multiple vendors for a particular component.
The more important question is what they won, how much they pay to win, etc. Every win isn't necessarily a win for the company, given the cut-throat prices in Asian markets.
if this is the tender that I think it is, they won close to nothing, just enough to mark territory and say they sell in China ... but I can be wrong. There is a lot of going on in China these days and various tenders are launched at the same time. ..
re: AlcaLu Wins China 3G DealThe fact is the CMCC is selecting GPON for their broadband access. Evenif they are not as big as CTC or CUC in wireline they have a lot of money and their selection is a milestone for GPON in China. i am pretty sure that CUC and CTC will do GPON as well. Only recently CUC joint FSAN and they are not going to waist their time. They really intend to use ITU PON technology.
yeah yeah ... we have been there before. Both you and me know that it is not the way it really is but OK - if you want to start again that pointless discussion, I am out. Time will tell ...
The funny thing is at least three other companies claim 'wins' in the same tender :) Now whom to trust - that is the question ...
