re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup Your boards certainly became less interesting to follow since change to Discus. I wonder if it because 'HotTalk' is broken or because accounts were annihilated. Most of posts are from staff and don't spark a discussion.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup -áThat's true, about multichassis. And I think some of the purported advantages in QOS or SDN could turn out to be interesting, if Compass-EOS can get any momentum going.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup Yeah the density isn't overwhelming really, but the multi-chassis ability is intriguing if it doesn't require burning up lots of front-side interfaces. -á

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup

We focused on the photonics and the company background when
I met with Somekh, and I didn't concentrate on the router stats. Upon sitting
down to write this, I realized: They're kind of underwhelming -- a 4-port box
that I think is 1/3 of a rack, running 800G. I think the AlcaLu 7750 did better
than that quite a while ago.

Of course, there are other advantages Compass-EOS is
claiming, such as the ability to do more accurate QOS (they can use real output
queuing instead of virtual output queuing, for instance).

But when I start looking at those factors, I think of
Chiaro.-á They were a core router startup
with innovations all over the place, from the forwarding ASICs to the optical
interfaces.-á Didn't help them.-á What matters here is that Compass-EOS has a
live deployment.
