re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup -áThe problem here is that no details about SDN, if they have any.
New core router has to work with existing traditional IP or IP/MPLS based core.
And, IMHO, there is no complex QOS or H-QoS in the core at all. 8 queues per port, non-HoL blocking design - it is more than enough.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup Yes, I have the same opinion. We can remember RedBack SE800 which has full mesh between cards. They failed to upgrade a box from 20G per slot to higher speeds due to complexity of full mesh.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup I wonder what happens if I "reply" to my own message...

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup At least we still have Buzz Bin.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup +1 for breaking the boards.

I have had a couple of problems with the site beyond the new boards and have given that information to Phil when I find it.

As to the other reasons, I would just say that much of the industry is a LONG term funk and it is causing fewer people to be involved in it from the old LR Core. -áI know you are trying to be into more newer things, but it does not seem that these articles strikes nerves yet.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup What's the record for shortest column width? Maybe we can break it today...

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup Well, someone had to be happy with it!

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup I like the fact that if there are enough replies, the column gets so narrow it can't be read. Also, there are no annoying "someone has replied" messages in the emails that would encourage any interaction. And the fact that we can no longer create titles for our posts means people like me can no longer come up with clever heds, like maybe "Disqus-ded". Finally, a community platform for misanthropes.

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup -áSounds like a BS to me. They would need full mesh of connections between all chips. With current port density it is 1 ASIC per line card. Creating full mesh within full rack router is doable and complexity is hidden. But I have difficulty imagining full mesh connections between 50 or 100 chips (what would be required for say 4-rack device).

re: Photonics Fire Up Radical Core Router Startup I've been assuming it's because accounts were annihilated. Hadn't thought about Hot Talk being broken ... which, now that I look carefully -- it is.-á We'll get to work on that.

Thanks for the feedback. I think a lot of people dislike the new message boards but just haven't spoken up (because doing so would require using the new message boards).
