That seems to be the challenge of every "open" technology deployment the industry adopts. If it's not the vendors adding their own tweaks, it's the service providers customizing their implementations. 

It will be interesting to see how OpenFlow is or isn't able to address this.

Which OpenFlow
While congratulations are definitely in order for the ONF, I've also heard that the much ballyhooed implemention of OpenFlow by Google has a number to extensions so that it really is GoogleFlow. If that's the case, I'm wondering whether others who deploy OpenFlow will also add proprietary extensions to OpenFlow....in other words, we'll have lots of proprietary OpenFlows being implemented.
