SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Extending its leadership in system controllers, Marvell(R) (NASDAQ: MRVL), a technology leader in the development of extreme broadband communications and storage solutions, today announced a new Discovery(TM) II-based development system for dual processor, high-performance applications. The system, which employs Marvell's industry-leading Discovery II system controller, two Motorola MPC7455 PowerPC(R) processors and QNX(R) operating system software, supports the Motorola MPX bus protocol, enabling high bandwidth performance. By adding this new system, Marvell now offers a complete line of development platforms for leading PowerPC(R) microprocessors. The Marvell DB-64360A2-2XMPC7455 development system will enable customers to rapidly design next-generation communications systems, such as routers, switches, wireless base stations and storage infrastructures. The dual processor development system will be demonstrated at the opening day keynote session at Motorola's Smart Networks Developer Forum in Dallas as well as at Marvell's booth (#201) on March 23-26, 2003. "The Marvell Discovery II device is the only system controller in the industry to support SMP and MPX protocols," said Alon Hurwitz, Director of Marketing for Communications Controllers. "Combined with our Discovery II development system and Motorola processors, our customers are now able to develop time-to-market, next-generation communications and storage products." "The new Discovery II development system with the QNX RTOS provides OEMs with a complete solution for multiple processor applications," said Sebastien Marineau, Senior Netcoms Architect Development at QNX. "We are pleased to team up with Marvell to enable customers to develop high-performance designs with Discovery II system controllers that support the evolving complexity of network applications."
