NEW YORK -- MagiQ Technologies, Inc., the quantum information processing (QIP) company, today announced the addition of Dr. Michael LaGasse as Vice President of Engineering. "Dr. LaGasse brings superior optical hardware engineering experience to the MagiQ team," said Bob Gelfond, founder and CEO of MagiQ Technologies. "Dr. LaGasse's experience in bringing technologies out of the lab and into finished commercial products will be very valuable to us. His addition to our talented engineering team is an important step toward delivering on our promise of commercializing quantum information products that address real business problems." Dr. LaGasse has published more than 40 advanced optics, networking and telecommunications papers and holds more than 25 awarded and pending patents on inventions ranging from optical carrier filtering to time-domain-reflectometry. Prior to joining MagiQ, Dr. LaGasse was Director of Optical Hardware at PhotonEx, where he led the team responsible for developing the first production 40Gb/sec transmitters and receivers. He started his career at Boeing's High Technology Center as an Associate Technical Fellow working on various advanced optical and electronic hardware including intersatellite laser communications and optical MEMS switches. Dr. LaGasse holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from MIT and a B.S., EE from the University of Massachusetts.
