CHATSWORTH, Calif. -- Luminent, a leading supplier of metro transceivers and Fiber-to-the-Premise solutions, has announced brand unification between its Luminent and OIC divisions into LuminentOIC.

Optronics International Corporation (OIC) has been an integral part of Luminent from July of 2000 when its parent company, MRV, acquired the Taiwanese manufacturer of active fiber optic components, OIC. The acquisition was made to expand Luminent's product offerings, expand its manufacturing capabilities and enhance its technology expertise. High-volume, low-cost products from the Taiwan facility were branded under the OIC name. Lower volume, higher technology products from the US division were branded under the Luminent name. Following a recent structural unification of both facilities, all products will now be branded under the LuminentOIC name to reflect its combined emergence as a low-cost, high volume manufacturer.
