Long Distance Call

4:17 PM -- The U.S. National Research Council is calling for more research into the long-term effects of radio frequencies on human health.

A new NRC report says that although short-term exposure to widespread RF isn't detrimental to health, we still don't know enough about potential long-term issues.

"Perhaps the single most important question concerning the health effects of exposure to RF fields is the possible link between such exposures and cancer risk," the NRC says.

Most of the short-term studies so far haven't found any definite links between low-level RF exposure and health problems. I would question exactly what would happen if longer-term studies did make a link. I suspect more shielding on phones and other obvious measures but I wonder how far we could even go if it does turn out to be a problem (and that's still a big "if").
