CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- LightCore, a regional fiber optic transport provider in the Central United States, today announced it has completed a major network expansion into Texas and Louisiana. The new fiber optic ring connects LightCore’s existing networks to major telecommunications hubs in Dallas and also provides access to a number of smaller cities in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana.

This latest network expansion adds 800 route miles of long-haul and metro fiber, and brings LightCore’s total lit and unlit network to more than 7,000 miles covering 11 states.

“This is one of the most important network expansion projects we have ever completed,” said Matt Porterfield, senior vice president of sales and marketing for LightCore. “Dallas is an extremely important market for our customers, and being able to pick up and deliver traffic there increases the value of all of our other networks. In addition to Dallas we’ve added a number of great markets in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana to our footprint.”

The new ring meets LightCore’s existing network in Oklahoma City and Little Rock, Ark. LightCore added carrier access points in Dallas, Tyler and Longview, Texas; Shreveport and Monroe, La.; and Pine Bluff, Ark. The company foresees creating additional points-of-presence along the fiber route in the future.

“We will continue to add markets where we see strong customer demand,” Porterfield said, “We are currently evaluating a number of potential new markets that keep showing up on our customers’ wish lists.”
