NEWARK, Calif. -- LIGHTCONNECT, a leading global supplier of dynamic components and modules for optical networks, has announced that its Fast VOA (Variable Optical Attenuator) has surpassed 100 billion test cycles without any degradation in performance. The test cycles consist of altering the attenuation from 0dB to 15dB and back to 0dB. Each cycle was completed in 250 microseconds during a test period of 10 months. By going well beyond the industry standard of 10 million cycles, in addition to passing Telcordia GR-1209 and GR-1221 qualification in October of 2001, the Fast VOA emerges as the clear choice for dynamic optical networks. "We evaluated several VOAs to integrate into our Optical Link Subsystem and LIGHTCONNECT's Fast VOA outperformed the others," said Chris Egner, Vice President of Business Development at BTI Photonics Inc., a designer and builder of optical amplification, signal conditioning and performance monitoring subsystems (www.btiphotonics.com). "By partnering with a company whose products meet or exceed the most stringent reliability standards in the industry, we assure our customers they can buy with confidence." LightConnect Inc.
