Light Reading Launches LR Asia

Light Reading has launched its latest telecom news Website, Light Reading Asia, to provide its readers with a single point of reference for its coverage of the Asia/Pacific region.

Based on the existing Light Reading Europe model, the new site includes news analyses, blogs, opinion and research articles, and reports about the Asia/Pacific telecom market.

To mark the launch of the site, Catherine Haslam, the LR Asia site editor, has published a new report: A Guide to India's Telecom Market.

India is a complex market with multiple carriers operating in any number of the country's 22 telecom service areas, or "circles." The report explains the market, including the latest developments in the hot mobile services sector, and provides a guide to the operators and their services, including a map of India's circles.

While India, along with China, is attracting a great deal of attention from the telecom world due to the enormous growth potential those markets offer, and because both countries are still in the early stages of 3G wireless development, the vast Asia/Pacific region is home to many markets that are of interest to other operators and, of course, the vendor community worldwide.

LR Asia will cover all of the region's markets, focusing on the latest service, technology, and regulatory developments that are affecting the availability, evolution, and use of communications services. (For examples, see SKT Plans $2.2B Spending Spree, Australia Unveils $31B FTTP Plan, AsiaWatch: StarHub Lands NGN Role, Chunghwa Rides High in Taiwan, and ChinaWatch: Capex Cuts & Contracts.)
