SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- IPlay3(TM), a unique consortium established to deliver a "best of breed" residential triple play solution, and LatAm Communications, a Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) services provider, announced today the completion of the 12-mile fiber optic ring in Homestead, FL. This major milestone is the first phase in the deployment of advanced IP-based voice, video and data services to an estimated 20,000 subscribers.

Once nearly wiped off the map by Hurricane Andrew, Homestead is coming back with a cutting-edge network and advanced residential services. With the fiber network in place, LatAm Communications is beginning the residential build-out to deliver triple play services. "The innovative, integrated IPlay3 solution from NetCentrex is the obvious choice for LatAm's Smart Park FTTP project; it is the only fully integrated triple play solution that provides the various services needed by our Homestead business and residential customers," comments Roman Martinez, CEO of LatAm Communications.

Better than traditional broadband services, the IPlay3 integrated platform delivers to subscribers a "home kiosk" interface accessible via the television's remote control. In this way, users can enjoy cool new IP video services such as IP-VoD and IP HDTV and IP telephony services including dial-from-TV, caller-ID-on-screen, and one-push call forwarding to voicemail. LatAm Communications will benefit by having all of the services integrated with each other so that provisioning, QOS and billing requirements will interoperate seamlessly.

Alain Fernando-Santana, IPlay3 Managing Director and NetCentrex CEO, adds: "Homestead and LatAm Communications are part of a trend for underserved markets and municipalities to take an active role in providing enhanced IP services to their residents. Our goal is to provide these underserved markets and municipalities with a pre-integrated platform that enables them to implement unique and customizable IP services quickly and at a lower cost -- we have achieved this goal and LatAm will be an example of innovation and a vision for new IP services pioneers."

"Homestead was devastated by Hurricane Andrew but now, with the IPlay3-based FTTP Triple Play services, we are taking the lead and allowing our residents to benefit from the best there is to offer in leading technology and a road-map for the future," added Curt Ivy, City Manager of Homestead, FL.

The LatAm Communications FTTP project is the next phase of the LatAm Smart Park, which will service the City of Homestead residences and businesses via its own fiber optic network. LatAm Communications, through the use of FTTP, will provide advanced IP services such as HDTV television, Video on demand, Broadband Internet, VoIP, E-learning, "interactive town" services, Centrex and airtime packages.
