DIETZENBACH, Germany -- LastMile AG, a leading German supplier of Optical Networking Solutions releases its new DWDM system with an extremely attractive price.

The small form factor of 5 RU for an entire 32 channel DWDM system is the result of LastMile’s ongoing efforts in reducing valuable rack space. This DWDM system can be upgraded in steps of 8 channels. The use of pluggable transceivers – according to ITU standards and 100 GHz spacing – enables the per channel flexibility to manufacture a very cost-effective and slim DWDM. It provides a capacity of up to 2.67 Gbit/s, full 3R functionality and an optical budget of up to 22 dB.

Mike Lange, Marketing Director of the German system integrator Controlware states “Our partners are experiencing more and more pressure from their customers and competitors and need to act very price sensitive. Controlware is known as a reliable partner in the market but we need to react on the price level as well and help our partners operating profitable. That’s why I am keen with this latest announcement of LastMile to release an extremely cost-effective DWDM system.” LastMile sells a DWDM channel far below $ 10.000 (end to end) to its partners.

The LightPilot DWDM is manufactured in Germany and based on LastMile’s successful LightPilot platform. It is fully SNMP capable and manageable via Web browser. All ports are data rate independent and perform clock recovery for all common rates from 100 Mbit/s till 2.67 Gbit/s. Due to the horizontal airflow the entire system requires only 5 RU and can be installed in every usual 19´´ rack. Compatibility and interoperability with the LastMile FiberPilot and WavePilot DWDM systems is a matter of course.
