Successfully completes optical system testing With China's Wuhan Research Institute

PLANO, Texas -- LaserComm, an innovative developer of photonic modules and a leader in managing chromatic dispersion in optical networks, today announced that China's Wuhan Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (WRI) has successfully completed system-level optical transmission testing of LaserComm's broadband Hi-Mode(TM) Dispersion Management Device (DMD). WRI, a leading research center in China and one of the country's largest optical system manufacturers, tested the Hi-Mode DMD to evaluate the performance of the device in its long-haul, dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system. WRI reported that in all tests, the Hi-Mode DMD yielded outstanding results, precisely reversing the negative effects of chromatic dispersion -- a "blurring" of light pulses in optical fiber, which causes data errors and limits capacity and reach of 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s DWDM systems. "Managing chromatic dispersion with the Hi-Mode DMD will enable us to optimize our advanced multi-channel, high speed, long-haul transmission systems," said Mr. Yang Zhu, chief director of technical auditing and certification at Wuhan Research Institute.
