Lantern Demos 10-Gig Ethernet

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Lantern Communications announced today it is demonstrating the industry's lowest priced 10 Gigabit Ethernet Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) System at USTA TELECOM '03 in Las Vegas, Oct 12-15, 2003 at the Venetian Hotel, Booth #807.

Powered by Lantern's MPS family of products, the demonstration will showcase the XG-RIM, Lantern's 10 Gigabit Ethernet RPR Interface Module, priced at $9,500.

The demonstration showcases the transport of video, voice and data over the XG-RIM, including:

  • True Multicast Video without packet replication, for broadcast video applications being streamed to multiple receiving stations;
  • Carrier grade equipment performing sub 50 ms protection in the face of multiple faults on each node in the network; and,
  • End-to-End point and click Network Management providing huge operating efficiencies;


"Multi Service Operators (MSOs) and other carriers interested in maximizing their return on investment will find this to be an indispensable part of their infrastructure," added Kshitij Kumar, Lantern's Director for Technical Marketing. "Lantern's equipment enables triple play while allowing carriers to get the most out of their fiber infrastructure - packing their rings with billable customer traffic rather than best-effort."
