SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- KeyEye Communications, Inc., a leader in 10 gigabit-per-second (10 Gbps) copper-media transceivers, announced today the opening of a new design center in Irvine, California. Staffed with experienced system and semiconductor engineers, the facility will augment ongoing product development efforts at KeyEye's headquarters in Sacramento.

"We are developing very high performance integrated circuits that require specialized expertise," said Harvey Scull, president and CEO of KeyEye Communications. "By opening the design center in Irvine, we are expanding our access to engineers who have the skills we need to accelerate product development."

The design center will house high-speed digital communications system designers and digital signal processing experts as well as analog and digital designers. Dr. Alan Kwentus, vice president of digital signal processing technology development, will manage the design center. Dr. Kwentus recently joined KeyEye from Broadcom where he led the development of all of Broadcom's satellite physical layer technologies.

"To design advanced transceivers that deliver 10 Gbps performance over existing copper-based media, we need access to veteran designers of high-speed digital communication devices," said Dr. Kwentus. "These designers will work closely with our seasoned Sacramento team to develop leading edge transceivers that will enable the low cost 10 Gbps communications solutions data center managers are looking for today."
