MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Kasenna Inc., the leading provider of software solutions for video-on-demand (VOD), announced today that it will power a massive rollout of VOD services for Total Vision, a fiber-to-the-home broadband service provider in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. The deployment, based on Kasenna's Media Servers running the company's award-winning MediaBase XMP software, will implement a distributed architecture that will span over 100 edge sites and deliver services to over 65,000 individual condo units when completed. The power of this architecture will enable Total Vision to cost-effectively deploy VOD services across their network of properties and generate additional revenue as demand for their service increases.

"We've been offering VOD and other on-demand, pay-as-you-go services at a few of our facilities for a while and it's been really well received," said David Hall, Total Vision's CEO. "When we decided to provide these services at the rest our complexes, we knew we needed a better video delivery network that could not only be quickly deployed at multiple sites, but also efficiently manage and distribute content. More importantly, we needed one that can grow with us as demand increases. We tried the other VOD systems on the market today, but Kasenna's Media Servers proved to be the perfect solution on all accounts."

The Total Vision system uses a distributed architecture with Kasenna's SpeedBase Media Servers at the head-end as the central server and OmniBase Media Servers at the edge locations. Kasenna Media Servers, which include MediaBase XMP software on Linux-based hardware, will be deployed at nearly two-dozen edge sites in the initial phase of the project. When completed, the full deployment will include OmniBase Media Servers at 100+ edge sites.

"The Total Vision deployment is another example of Kasenna's flexibility to serve large stream counts across multiple locations," said Mark Gray, Chairman and CEO of Kasenna. "We believe this model of distributable servers is the future of VOD deployments. Kasenna is excited to have Total Vision join the ranks of the many customers endorsing this vision."
