ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Kaiser Optical Systems, Inc., a leader in volume phase holographic (VPH) diffraction gratings, introduces the UltraSpec HT-940 high dispersion volume phase grating for telecom and other applications. Based on its proprietary HT (high throughput) process, these gratings have high efficiency (insertion loss less than 0.35 dB) and a high dispersion of 940 lines/mm. Polarization dependent loss (PDL) is less than 0.1 dB and the grating has a broad spectral bandwidth. This combination of performance factors will allow customers to design world-class products for the telecommunications industry.

UltraSpec HT-940 gratings are not affected by mechanical shock or humidity. They require no special handling, and if they get dirty, they can just be wiped clean, which greatly increases manufacturing yield and decreases life cycle cost.

UltraSpec HT-940 gratings are available in custom made form factors from a few millimeters up to 4 inches in length and width. They can be designed to each customer’s exact application with no large NRE charges.

Kaiser Optical Systems, Inc., will be exhibiting this product at ECOC ’05 in Glasgow. Kaiser Optical Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rockwell Collins and is a leader in the design and production of volume phase holographic elements. It has over 25 years of experience and has shipped tens of thousands of holographic components to customers around the world.
