Triformix announces acquisition of JDS Uniphase's molded-optics business unit

SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Triformix, Inc. (www.triformix.com), a leading maker of precision-molded optical components for the communications, digital imaging, and instrumentation markets, today announced it is acquiring the assets of the molded-optics business unit of JDS Uniphase (NASDAQ:JDSU - News) for an undisclosed cash amount. As a result of the acquisition, Triformix expects to strengthen its position in the precision-molded optics market with a broadened customer base, added technical capabilities and expanded capacity.

The acquisition of JDS Uniphase's molded-optics business unit is the latest in several steps Triformix has successfully taken to strengthen its position in the marketplace. The company recently announced it secured a second round of venture funding and will take in additional venture funding concurrent with the acquisition of the JDS Uniphase business unit.

"With this acquisition, Triformix is reinforcing its position as a leader in the precision-molded optics industry," said David Whitney, president and CEO of Triformix. "The acquisition will allow us to expand the base of business in our target markets with important new customers and products.
