SAN JOSE, Calif. -- JDSU today announced two new features for its T-BERD/MTS-8000 Transport module, 10GigE WAN and IP functionality. This new functionality enables service providers to rapidly, reliably and cost-effectively deploy triple-play networks and services. Important complements to the already extensive product line, these enhancements further differentiate the T-BERD/MTS-8000 as one of the industry's most innovative test solutions for the installation and maintenance of next generation networks.

Advanced applications supported by this new release include performing connectivity, throughput and quality of service (QoS) tests for IP- and Ethernet-based services. In addition, the T-BERD/MTS-8000 can now measure network performance metrics such as round trip delay, out-of-sequence and dropped packets, which are all critical in the delivery of real-time services. Combined, this test functionality ensures the delivery of high quality services, reducing customer churn and ensuring new revenue streams.

"Ethernet and IP are becoming increasingly important as the primary method of delivering new revenue-generating triple-play services to end users," said Jerry Gentile, general manager of JDSU's telecommunication field services (TFS) Test and Measurement group. "These enhancements to the T-BERD/MTS-8000 illustrate our commitment to enabling the evolution towards an all-IP/Ethernet network that supports the reliable delivery of voice, video and data services."
