CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, announced today availability of its latest operating software release, IxOS 3.80, which significantly enhances testing efficiency, simulation scalability, and automation flexibility. These improvements combine to decrease test set up and execution time while simultaneously providing users with greater emulation power from Ixia’s test hardware.

A collection of new test configuration wizards are key to improving the user experience and ease of use. The wizards walk the test engineer through a simple set of steps to configure complex IP network simulations, both at the control (routing) and data (traffic) planes, for the purpose of testing routers, Layer 3 switches, and other IP devices. This functionality can decrease test configuration time by more than a factor of 10 as multiple protocols, thousands of simulated routers, and millions of traffic flows can be set up in just seconds across multiple network interfaces.

IxOS 3.80 improves flexibility in the area of automation, an important element in many network test labs executing large scale tests without user intervention. With a single button selection, users can generate automation scripts for an Ixia test port, module, or entire chassis at once. These scripts enable large scale automated tests to be configured more quickly than before.

Key enhancements have been added in the ability to emulate and test IP routing devices. Enhanced protocol support for IPv6, including PIM-SMv6 for multicast testing, improves the flexibility to create mixed IPv4/IPv6 networks, tracking the increased level of deployment of IPv6 worldwide. Routing protocol emulation scalability has been significantly increased for both IPv4 and IPv6, boosting Ixia’s performance verification capabilities for large scale networks and high speed interfaces such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
