CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA - News), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, announced today significant enhancements to IxScriptMate, its primary automated network test application. The IxScriptMate 5.10 release adds the ability for customers to incorporate fully customized, turnkey test procedures that operate automatically without test operator intervention. IxScriptMate operates in conjunction with Ixia's powerful hardware test platform, enabling highly scalable testing to be executed with a minimum of test hardware. By combining Ixia's large library of turnkey tests and user-generated tests in the IxScriptMate test environment, customers can greatly simplify the process of fully automating all of their test cases.

IxScriptMate 5.10 introduces the first phase of Ixia's powerful new plug-in architecture that allows new test scripts to be directly integrated within a given test application and thereby leverage the rich features provided by the entire test environment. This modularity makes it possible for custom tests, whether developed by the Ixia Custom Engineering (ICE) team or ported from a customer's own test libraries, to be incorporated into an existing test bed in a significantly reduced amount of time. In addition, configuration of the Device Under Test (DUT) can now be executed within the test application rather than as a separate configuration activity. Together, these capabilities enable seamless control of testing from a single automation environment. Future IxScriptMate releases will further enhance the flexibility and ease of building these automated test configurations.

IxScriptMate 5.10 significantly extends the testing scope of test engineers who are tasked with ever increasing test requirements mandated by the explosive deployment of multicast technology, a technology that makes it possible for the effective distribution of video and other broadcast content in today's IP networks. The throughput, latency, and integrity of multicast data traversing the network can now be measured using IxScriptMate within its highly flexible test configurations. Ixia test hardware is used to emulate both receivers and sources in the multicast network, scaling to thousands of traffic streams and multicast groups (e.g., representing video channels) to test the limits of the DUT. And with IxScriptMate, both IPv4 and IPv6 multicast networks can be tested.
