MONTREAL -- ITF Optical Technologies Inc., a worldwidesupplier of state-of-the-art photonic components for next-generation optical networks, announces a second generation All-Fiber Optical DPSK Demodulator. This newcomponent features phase tunability, which allows the user to adjust the demodulator tothe incoming signal frequency. Many system designers are presently studying the possibility of changing the modulationtechnique traditionally used in DWDM systems from OOK to other protocols. Inparticular, many are evaluating the possibility of using DPSK. Numerous advantagescan be obtained from this modulation scheme such as an intrinsic reduction of Signal toNoise Ratio (SNR) and a reduction of sensitivity to fiber dispersion."This new feature will help accelerate the research and development of new systemsbased on coherent modulation schemes” said Hélène Chartier, VP Marketing of ITFOptical Technologies. "Researchers and engineers will benefit from the superiorperformance of an All-Fiberâ component such as its low excess loss, PDL and PMD aswell as its high isolation. Furthermore, only one device is needed to cover any channelin C and L bands, only the bit rate needs to be specified."ITF Optical Technologies Inc.
