KRANJ, Slovenia -- Iskratel, an experienced developer of complete solutions for convergent and next generation networks announces its outstanding Multi-service Access Node (MSAN). Iskratel, a major player in the Eastern European market will introduce the MSAN at Moscow's Sviaz/Expo Comm.

Iskratel has actively developed its product line to meet the needs of the contemporary telecommunications environment. The SI2000 MSAN extends the broadband access network to the end user so that the transmission of high-quality services, such as triple play’s voice, data and multicast-enabled video, is ensured. The challenge of fulfilling the needs of next-generation telecommunications telecom service providers in the area of upgrading existing access networks has been met. The SI2000 MSAN product follows the logical continuity and experience gained with the SI2000 AN (Access node in TDM), the SI2000 IP DSLAM and the SI2000 MGW (Media Gateway) product lines.

The SI2000 MSAN is a scalable and modular access system based on Gigabit Ethernet technology. It economically fulfills the telecommunications needs of urban, suburban and rural regions with carrier-grade reliability. The SI2000 MSAN bridges the gap between TDM networks and NGNs by connecting the switching and access TDM equipment to a NGN via a variety of standards-based protocols, such as MGCP, NCS, H.323, IUA/STCP, M3UA/STCP, SIP-T, SSN7, V5.2, DSS1 and CAS.

The SI2000 MSAN’s role in the network involves typical applications that range from broadband and TDM access, to access and trunk gateways, as well as integrated transit (class 4) or local (class 5) call server.

In addition to the standard interfaces found in other multi-service access products, the SI2000 MSAN offers a unique feature, a built-in call server (Integrated Call Server, iCS). The iCS positions SI2000 MSAN as an advanced product for building intelligent multi-service networks. It simplifies the upgrades of existing access networks and their effective integration into NGNs. It integrates the call-server, TDM-switching and media-gateway functionalities.

As the director of Iskratel’s Wireline Solutions Business Unit, Franc Dolenc, pointed out: “The SI2000 MSAN product is an intelligent carrier-grade access node that brings crucial advantages and benefits for telecom service providers. By a rational exploitation of the transmission network’s capacity, and because of its scalable architecture, the SI2000 MSAN provides the high-quality transmission of triple-play services, and at the same time still confidently ensures the full range of TDM services.”
