- The user-generated content (UGC) video model is dead, Contentinople publisher Scott Raynovich says, as UGC video sites, like YouTube, have only been able to monetize small percentages of their content. "Imagine a store where you stock thousands of items, but only 5 percent of them are ever sold. That's YouTube," Raynovich writes.
- The Associated Press announced yesterday that it is cracking down on Websites that use its content inappropriately. "We can no longer stand by and watch others walk off with our work under misguided legal theories," AP chairman Dean Singleton said.
- CDNetworks has about 150 customers in Europe, primarily from its acquisition of Panther Express. Hoping to add to that number, the company is now putting more resources behind its European business and expanding its sales presence there. Part of the change: Robert Gribnau, formerly vice president of sales for Europe and the U.S., is now focusing on Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
