Is Searchable Better Than Social?

03:50 PM -- Off Topic Alert! This video blog deals with social media and how folks control their identities on Facebook, Google, and other places.

By the way, yet another easy way to find me is to visit www.lightreading.com/phil.

I was interested to discover that i'm the 2nd-highest ranked Jeff Baumgartner in the Googlesphere... behind only the "Actor & Artist" Jeff Baumgartner, and that's all without a Google Profile to my credit.  My ranking is apparently aided by the fact that there are no famous Jeff Baumgartners in the world, or at least far fewer famous ones than there are of Phil Harveys. That's kind of my point. It's not difficult to find the wrong Phil Harvey these days.

So, I use:

Linkedin to find jobs....hey Phil if you need my resume, I have it.

Facebook to find high school friends....actually chatted with my best friend in high school last night through Facebook

Other than that, I pretty much ignore the social media thing.  I find these are convenient ways to stay in touch with people that I don't normally stay in touch with.

P.S. Just FYI in CA, STD testing is a big deal in the porn industry.  They are probably the least likely folks to infect others.  Okay other than Phil.  I mean who is going to date him?
