DUISBURG, Germany -- IPAG - Innovative Processing AG, Duisburg, has aquired the assets of Opto Speed Deutschland GmbH, Darmstadt, and secures further funding by its lead investor High Tech Private Equity GmbH. IPAG's product portfolio is now extended towards laser and SLED devices. Simultaneously, IPAG's PIN diode business will be extended on special higher bandwidth applications at aggravated operating conditions. Thus, IPAG’s business covers now emitters as well as receivers for applications in telecom/datacom and beyond.

IPAG has acquired the assets of Opto Speed Deutschland GmbH (OSD), which filed for insolvency middle of July, 2003, due to the insolvency of its parent company Opto Speed Switzerland S.A. By this means, the product portfolio will be extended towards FP and DFB lasers as well SLED chips.

IPAG's management board will be enlarged by Dr. Stefan Hansmann, the former head of operations of OSD. The main production site of IPAG will be located in Darmstadt, Germany. The product focus will be on FP lasers, DFB lasers for bitrates of up to 10Gbit/s and optical wavelengths of 1310 and 1550 nm and SLED chips. Besides this, IPAG will extend its Epi-Wafer material services for opto-electronic devices. The PIN diode business will be extended on devices with superior performance at aggravated operating conditions for special applications in Avionics, Defence and Sensing.

“The two companies’ businesses are a perfect match due to the congruent technology and complementary products of IPAG and OSD.” states Dr. Stefan Hansmann. “The enhanced customer base and consolidated revenues strengthen IPAG’s competitive position.”

“The acquisition of the assets of Opto Speed Deutschland GmbH speed up our capabilities in bringing an extended high-speed product portfolio based on InP and GaAs to a challenging marketplace” said Dr. Ralf Bertenburg, member of the management board and founder of IPAG, who will be responsible for business development and marketing in future. "We are happy to have the opportunity to join forces with the highly motivated team of OSD."

“As a result, IPAG is now a leading company for high-speed opto-electronic components in Germany.” said Christian Schuette, managing director of High Tech Private Equity GmbH.
