MARLBOROUGH, Mass. and SHREWSBURY, N.J. -- Internet Photonics Inc. today announced that FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTGX), a leading provider of metropolitan connectivity, has deployed Internet Photonics' Intelligent Wavelength Platforms to provide Optical Ethernet transport services within the New York metro market. The Internet Photonics' equipment is being used to deliver Gigabit Ethernet private line services to FiberNet's customers for applications such as web hosting, data storage, and Video On-Demand.

"The LightStack MX is a simple and scalable platform that maximizes bandwidth efficiency and drives down the cost of multiple Gigabit Ethernet connections," said Ernie Hoffmann, Vice President of Engineering, FiberNet. "The MX enables FiberNet to profitably deploy Optical Ethernet services to our customers while reducing installation intervals."

FiberNet is using the LightStack MX platform in point-to-point configurations to deliver Gigabit Ethernet transport to carrier customers requiring secure, high-capacity connectivity between carrier hotels for web hosting and storage networking applications, and for low latency applications such as Video On-Demand. Leveraging the LightStack's unique VirtualWire(TM) capabilities, each MX is capable of supporting any mix of customers and services on the same wavelength simply and securely with plug-and-play QoS.

"As a cutting-edge provider of 10-Gigabit Metro Wavelength Services, FiberNet's success is directly tied to its ability to transport enormous amounts of data, reliably and cost-effectively over its network," said Gary Southwell, Vice President of Marketing, Internet Photonics. "We appreciate the opportunity to work with such an innovative network provider, as it helps highlight the capacity, scalability, security and detailed management of our LightStack products."
