SAN DIEGO -- Tarari Inc., a new company focused on high-speed content processing, announced its formation today. As a spin-out from Intel Corp.'s (Nasdaq:INTC) Network Processing Group, Tarari will produce hardware and software solutions designed to accelerate key applications used in network security and Web services deployed into standard, high-volume servers and network appliances. Tarari, an independent company headquartered in San Diego, has received $13 million in a Series A round of funding from Crosspoint Venture Partners and XMLFund. Tarari also becomes a portfolio company of Intel Capital, Intel's corporate venture arm, with Intel holding an equity investment in the new venture. "Our technology will enable the acceleration of a broad range of applications that are currently limited due to extensive processing requirements," said Randy Smerik, Tarari president and CEO. "Our products, designed to fit easily into standard high-volume servers and networking devices, will provide a flexible environment for acceleration. Our customers will be able to significantly lower their cost of ownership while improving both the performance and flexibility of their systems." Intel Corp. Tarari Inc.
