Insight Sees Strong 1st Q Data Gains

Rebounding from a sluggish fourth quarter, Insight Communications added 37,300 high-speed data subscribers in the first quarter, a 33% increase over its year-ago results. With the quarterly addition, Insight boosted its total cable-modem customer count to 367,800, giving it a penetration rate of 15.8% of homes passed. Insight also signed up 7,700 digital cable subscribers in the first quarter, raising its total to 459,000 for a 37.5% take rate. In addition, the MSO netted 4,300 cable telephony subscribers, increasing its total to 68,600 for a 9.0% penetration rate.
