Ikanos Communications appoints former Centillium CFO John Luhtala as vice president and chief financial officer

FREMONT, Calif. -- Ikanos Communications, developer of Smart Silicon For Profitable Broadband™, today announced the appointment of John Luhtala as the company's vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). As the former CFO for telecommunications semiconductor company Centillium Communications, Luhtala brings more than 30 years of management experience in finance, legal, treasury, and accounting to the Ikanos executive team. With a proven track record of managing complex process improvement and systems re-engineering, Luhtala will be responsible for building a world-class finance team, maintaining communications with the investment community, and creating the operational excellence necessary to sustain value for shareholders. "John has years of experience in scaling up financial operations for semiconductor start ups, and will be a great asset to our company, especially at a time where we are seeing significant growth in revenue and expansion of our company," said Rajesh Vashist, president and CEO of Ikanos. "John has brought companies from $0 to $160 million in just two years, which leaves no doubt in my mind of his ability to represent Ikanos as chief financial officer." At Centillium, Luhtala's successes included leading the company's successful IPO in May 2000 and bringing six quarters of sequential growth in revenues, gross margin, and profitability. Prior to his time at Centillium, Luhtala held VP and CFO positions at The Santa Cruz Operation and SyQuest Technology. Along with his accounting and finance experience, Luhtala has also managed management information systems (MIS) organizations and led legal activities for mergers and acquisitions totaling over $74 million.
