TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona-based Industrial Fiber Optics (IFO) has taken the U.S. lead in manufacturing and marketing fiber optic coupler/splitters for plastic optical fiber. The passive devices distribute optical signals from one or more input fibers into two or more output optical fibers. Applications for the splitters/couplers range from computer local area networks and automotive electronics to wavelength multiplexing and sensor systems. Because the couplers are passive devices and consume no electrical power, they are immune to electromagnetic influence and do not add noise to system designs.IFO's proprietary manufacturing process produces reliable, very-low-cost devices available in a wide range of styles and sizes that split or combine light with minimal loss. Standard description of the coupler is M x N (M input ports and N output ports). The standard product line is based on jacketed fiber cable with a 1 mm core, although products can be customized for other fiber core diameters. They can be fabricated with custom fiber lengths and/or with terminations of all types.Industrial Fiber Optics Inc.
