SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.)(Nasdaq:IDTI), a leading communications IC company and the leading provider of network search engines (NSEs), today extended its leadership with the introduction of the industry's lowest-cost NSEs in 32Kx72 (2-Mbit) configurations. The two new NSEs interface to application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), and are ideally suited for cost-sensitive applications in the enterprise and access markets, including VPNs, firewalls, Layer-2 and Layer-3 Ethernet switches, broadband remote access servers (BRAS), digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAMs), cable modem termination systems (CMTS), and voice and wireless gateways.

Delivering advanced features at a low price point, the 75N42102 NSE operates at 100 million searches per second (MSPS) and can achieve search rates up to 200 MSPS by utilizing simultaneous multi-database lookup (SMDL), a feature that allows for efficient multiple packet searches. The IDT 75N43102 NSE is the industry's lowest-cost NSE and operates at 62.5 MSPS. Both NSEs are optimized for cost-sensitive systems that need to achieve increased packet-processing rates to facilitate additional services such as QoS support, IP security, classification, traffic management, ATM forwarding and address classification.

"Designers of enterprise and access applications need an NSE solution that will fit within their budget," said Dave Cech, director of marketing for the IDT IP co-processor division. "Recognizing this challenge, we developed our new NSEs specifically to address the price/performance needs of these designers. Delivering a 50 percent cost savings when compared to competing solutions allows our customers to add valuable functions to applications that could not previously be accommodated."
