I Am Penguin. Hear Me Roar

2:45 PM -- Sadly, we've learned today that WatchMark-Comnitel/Metrica, the company that calls itself "the undisputed global leader in service assurance," is changing its name.

Unfortunately, we don't yet know what the new name is... All will be revealed at the 3GSM World Congress 2005 next week.

We're guessing that they're not going with the obvious Watchmark-Comnitel-Metrica Corp. And, unfortunately, we also learned this week that there's already a company named Roaring Penguin, so that name's taken.

Also, on the subject of names, it's disappointing to hear that SBC isn't going to assume the name of AT&T for the entire combined company. No doubt, many were looking forward to buying advanced fiber to the node (FTTN) services from a company whose name derives from American Telephone and Telegraph.
