NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXT), a worldwide leader in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications and the digital home, today announced that Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, will base its new digital video broadcast cable (DVB-C) InfoLink C2510 set-top boxes (STBs) on Conexant's CX2415X MPEG audio/video (A/V) broadcast decoder family. Huawei's InfoLink C2510 receivers will be deployed in provinces including Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Guizhou in the People's Republic of China.

"China is a major player in the international consumer electronics marketplace, and the country's transition to all-digital information and entertainment networks is now fueling significant domestic demand for products such as set-top boxes," said Lewis Brewster, executive vice president and general manager of Conexant's Broadband Media Processing business. "Our strong regional design presence can help leading-edge equipment vendors such as Huawei to quickly deliver products for this burgeoning new market."

"Conexant has been a valued supplier of broadband access products to Huawei for many years, and we are now expanding the scope of our business to include set-top box technologies," said Chen Chongjun, marketing director of Huawei's Fixed Network Terminals group. "Their highly integrated decoders provide us with a cost-effective, high-performance solution that will enable us to deliver top-quality receivers at a consumer-friendly price. The close proximity of Conexant's engineering teams in China is also important because it helps shorten our product development cycle and allows us to bring products to market more quickly and cost-effectively."
