How Not to Win

4:15 PM -- As many of you know, we have been burning the midnight oil, going through hundreds of Leading Lights entries, trying to come up with a dynamite list.

Unfortunately, some people just don't know how to sell themselves.

As an example, let's take a look at the entry from Net2Phone Inc. (Nasdaq: NTOP), which has entered for Best Investment Potential. Here are some of their actual answers to the questions:

  • Please list your top three customers: N/A

  • Is your company profitable? NO

  • If you aren't profitable, when do you expect to be: No Guidance Given

  • Describe your revenue and profit growth forcast for 2006: No Guidance Given
Now, that's a compelling investment story.

FYI: We'll start announcing the finalists tomorrow.

re: How Not to Win Ya know, I suggested this a while ago, but the entry you quoted reminded me: LR really should consider awards for the opposite of the Lighties.

I'd suggest calling them the Darkies, but it sounds wrong, even racist somehow. But I can think of so many good candidates.
