Global Crossing selects Nortel Networks to deliver global IP services

BOSTON -- Nortel Networks(NYSE:NT)(TSE:NT.) announced today that it has been selected by GlobalCrossing Ltd. (NYSE:GX) to provide Internet Protocol (IP) servicemanagement software for Global Crossing's worldwide deployment of nextgeneration IP and ATM services. Based on a software licensing agreement, Nortel Networks willdeliver provisioning software capabilities designed to help GlobalCrossing accelerate the delivery of IP-based services. TheseOperational Support System (OSS) capabilities will include policymanagement, order management, service provisioning, network inventorymanagement, service level management and accounting mediation. NortelNetworks OSS solutions support pre-integrated, workflow-driven, anddirectory-based services for its IP networking solutions, as well asnetwork devices from other vendors. The agreement also includeson-going maintenance and support over a three-year period. "Nortel Networks IP service management capabilities are a keycomponent of our overall plan to provide businesses with nextgeneration IP applications and services, particularly IP VPNs, on aglobal scale," said Robert L. "Nortel Networks software will allow us to centrallycontrol all aspects of our IP services roll-out, from configuring andprovisioning the service, to policy and service level management, toIP billing mediation.
