Global Crossing Announces CDN Partnerships

IP services provider Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC) finally announced today that it has partnered with Limelight Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: LLNW) and EdgeCast Networks Inc. to resell content delivery services to its customers.

The announcement comes two weeks after Contentinople reported that Global Crossing was entering the CDN business with a multi-step strategy that began with reselling services from multiple providers but could eventually lead to the firm licensing or acquiring CDN technology from one of its partners.

Al Sadowski, CDN product manager for Global Crossing, says his company decided to resell CDN because it was a low-risk way to offer services that are complementary to its IP transit business.

"We want to be a solutions provider to our customers," Sadowski says. "Now Global Crossing has the ability to fulfill all of our customer needs."
