Gitmo's Greatest Hits

2:15 PM -- More grim news in the War on Terror. The Guardian reports:

If US interrogators have been using pop songs as torture, as has been reported, then they may owe the songwriters performance royalties...

Babylon, the mild-mannered folk hit by David Gray, is allegedly one of the most popular torture songs at Guantánamo.
Though I'm unfamiliar with the oeuvre of that particular artiste, "mild-mannered folk hit" does sound truly scary. And the rest of the reported playlist definitely violates several Geneva Conventions: Eminem, Celine Dion, Metallica, and those lovable dinosaurs, Meatloaf and Barney, may all be owed royalties. Should boost them in the pop charts, too.

Note to Feds: There's a lawyer on the case. Trash the Constitution all you like, but do not mess with ASCAP.
